Employment Law
Advice and representation for both organisations and private individuals
Our specialist employment law barristers have the breadth of knowledge and experience required to deliver consistently high levels of service when representing either the employer or the employee at the employment tribunal or in the civil courts.
Instructing clients include national corporate law firms, local authorities, charitable law centres and solicitors. One of our members has been appointed to the Treasury Counsel panel, so we also take instructions from the Treasury Solicitor for government departments and agencies.
We handle cases of unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, discrimination, TUPE, unpaid wages and unfair wages. We assist with disciplinary proceedings, and are regularly instructed by sporting bodies to attend disciplinary hearings and appeals, whether representing the member or the governing body.
Settling before tribunal
The introduction of employment tribunal fees has led to a growing number of clients seeking to settle employment disputes before going to tribunal. To help avoid the high cost of bringing or responding to a claim, our employment law specialists will provide advice and support on internal hearings, and can conduct reviews and enquiries at the employer’s premises to ascertain the material facts in a dispute.
Preventing cases arising
Our employment law barristers will also review employers’ policies and procedures, offering advice that will reduce the risk of any relationship breakdowns and help to avoid expensive, stressful and distracting tribunal cases.
